I wish Aston Martin’s V-12 had ≥100hp/L. I’d personally rather have the V-8 Vantage, primarily because of the noise it makes.
u should’ve place the dbs up against it it would be more fascinating
@kicker4 No I have not been in a GT2 cup car, I would very much like to experience that. But I will say that a Porsche GT2 (rs model included) is one of the current modern day engineering marvels. The fact that Porsche have been able to make something to their standards with a ‘small’ capacity engine is genious provided the amount of hp/traction/acceleration it provides. Is a GT2 cup a road legal car? I was comparing road legal cars the previous conversation. Ever heard of a DBR9? 600bhp.
I liked the slightly tarty tail lights
@cyclingguy3 You’re nuts. I’m not saying you’re incorrect about the Aston or that the Aston is a terrible car because it absolutely is not. It’s a gorgeous, incredible car, BUT no porsche can make the kind of emotion the Aston does?!? Are you fuckin high? Have you ever been in a GT2 Cup Car with 600-700 hp? It’s incredible and I’m 100% sure that is produces the same emotion AND MORE than the Aston. The Aston is a normal car, not a twin turbo fucking beast that can handle more than 1.5gs of lateral grip
@cyclingguy3 i bet the carrera gt makes more emotion than your aston, altough i have to admit, that aston builds unbelivable gorgeous cars.
@Jamzkangster I agree with you on all of your points, other than reliability.. all modern-day cars are reliable, especially cars of this pricerange! Aston is a very highly established company and reliability is something that they are famed for having! their engines have been in these cars for years! (db9 since 2004). Yes you make a excellent point, German and Japanese engineering is far more sophisticated. But people don’t buy Astons because of hp per cylinder, they buy it for prestige and class.
@cyclingguy3 The new 997 turbos are more refined, better MPG, more fun to drive, more reliable, and way less maintenance compared to this Aston.
Yea the V12 engine is nice, but you can get the same amount of fun in a flat 6 turbo or a 6 turbo in the GTR.
i would take the aston, there is much more to a car than just the speed.
Ok that the porsche is quicker ..and a lot quicker it looks like. But I still reckon that the Aston is a hell much more nice excellent looking sport car. And in a country like mine (sweden) U dont need all those horse power that a porsche can give U. So I choose the martin 100%, One hell of a sexy car. It looks incredible from every angle I seen it from. I just like that car. I want one of those in my garage. MMMMMM
that vantage is sexaayyyy but porsche isnt THAT excellent looking but somehow… i like how it looks…. o_O
@nickeroo yea, what you said is kinda right, but cars are always being compared, for exemple by car magazines and just by numbers, and just by considering facts, these cars can be compared, and they always will be compared. BUT its right that these tests arent really meaningful, because i doubt anyone considering buying an Aston V12 will change one’s mind just by reading, that theres a Porsche with nearly the same bhp accelerating quicker than the Aston….
@2fight4 Well you made a comment like I was talking out my arse I reckon my point is valid, all of these tests of which is quicker are often a bit pointless because you can only compare like for like, when it comes to ‘winning’. I’ve already said I can see the reality of price, if you were going to spend that money this is what you could buy but to compare them on which is the out and out best performer seems to me a bit pointless. It appeals to teenagers that play GT5.
@nickeroo accept it, the Porsche just has a different concept 6cyl biturbo vs 12cyl with lots of displacement, thats unfair aswell, the Porsche has half the cylinders.
Fact is cars are compared by price and bhp and those cars have nearly the same bhp and price. The Porsche is just lighter thats why it is quicker nothing unfair in my opinion.Compare it to the Porsche Turbo,it is cheaper than the Aston and has less bhp but is still a lot quicker, but i guess its unfair again because the Aston loses.
@2fight4 Its also highly noteworthy that the GT2 generates a whopping 500 lb·ft of torque and delivers it only at 2200 rpm, which makes a huge difference coming out of corners. The AM generates only 420lb ft @ 5750rpm much higher up the rev range. So in answer to your question, yes I do reckon the Porsche has a huge power differential. Now go back to troll school.
@christosswc The Greeks on the other than make… no, wait. They don’t make any cars..:p
@2fight4 Troll: don’t know how much you know about cars, so I’ll clarify that power is relative to weight. GT2 is 523/1440kg = 369bhp per tonne. AM 510/1680kg = 308 per tonne. 61 bhp difference relative to weight is a honest amount really. Particularly when one is more of a cruiser and the other is a track orientated beast. So if you’re comparing them on performance alone its not really a honest comparison. They are comparable on price, in fact the Porker is a tad cheaper in the UK.
@trento728 the v6 has lower production costs compared to a flat 6 and thats about the only thing about a v6, thats better than a flat 6. a flat 6 has lower fuel consumption, than a v6, the engine smoothness is better, because of the better balancing of masses theres lower abrasion of the engine and since its a flat engine you can place it very low in a car which gives the car a better balance.
@nickeroo so 13bhp more for the Porsche is a huge difference in power output for you???!!!
@CcosmozZ Of course Aston can… Does it need more than 510bhp…?? No! so they don’t give it more.. simple! They would rather develop softer leather or a new shade of paint than give it even more power..
@cyclingguy3 sorry alex lang wrote that
@BaNgAs13 want a bet? don’t be jealous, someday I am sure you will get lucky too.
@cyclingguy3 no you didn’t
You know whats the problem with Aston? 510 HP from a 6.0L V12? I’m sure they can squeeze out more than that.
But no doubt, I’ll still have an Aston anyday. (Y)
Wow i luv the vantage SOOOO SEXCii
